Members: 57 regional groups and 3,300 local groups coordinating the efforts of about 2,500,000 volunteers
The American Cancer Society promotes research into new techniques in the prevention, detection, and treatment of cancer. It provides educational and medical programs as well as special services to cancer patients. Among the society’s many publications are Cancer News, Cancer, and CA—A Journal for Clinicians.
